Have you ever noticed that you get an awful lot of stuff done while procrastinating? I don’t mean any of that relevant work that you actually NEED to do, but rather, all those side projects that were left stagnant since the last time you were idly (but not so idly) procrastinating. Well, if you haven’t, let me share my recent tale of dawdling. continue reading »

Hello All,
I am commuter and my University life did not begin until I was accepted into the Sport Administration Certificate Program. It is a small, specialized program, offered through the School of Kinesiology and Health Science, but is open to ALL Majors.
The program specializes in Sport Management, Event Planning and Event Marketing. It is truly a gem at York University since all the students get hands on experience and as a result 80% of graduates get hired after graduation.
Once you are accepted into the program you become a part of the York University Sport Administration Association, check out our website www.yusaa.ca This student organization is a ton of fun. We operate like a small business and work with professionals in the sport industry. For example this year we did a project with the Raptors and Right To Play. What is really neat about our association is that you are exposed to so many opportunities and networks and you make so many friends.
If you have a passion for sport, physical activity and/or sport business, you should apply. ARIL 20th 2007 is the application deadline.
This certificate will make you stand out from the crowd!
If you have any questions feel free to write to me…… astypka@yusaa.ca

Hello one and all!! It has been awhile since Ihave posted a blog. March is probably the busiest month of the year for most university students, so I will use the busy time of year as an excuse for not posting a blog sooner. Ok today, or tonight I should say, I am going to discuss the financial possibilities of a student and show that it is possible to get out of university without a debt. continue reading »

Hello again for another installation of Jennifer’s blog!
I thought that this week I would look into the world of living on your own. As I have mentioned before I rent a house with two roommates who are good friends of mine. Although they don’t go to York, we were all looking to live in the area. We made sure to start looking in the summer for a place in September that was close to York (for me), close to work (for all of us), and affordable (for all of us of course). We were lucky to find a house that we could all agree upon and signed a one year lease.

I’m so sorry I haven’t posted in a while, but I’ve been so busy with assignments. Here’s some advice: If you can get through November and March in your first year of university with no melt-downs, then you will coast through the rest of your university career.

Choosing, picking, naming, nominating, and empowering (excuse the allusive pun) a student government can be a gruelling ordeal. Every year, students of various faculties elect their representative officials to do their political bidding, voice student concerns, and organize festive celebrations of grandeur and awe or “partaays” as they are commonly known (or should be known). Exciting times are upon us! continue reading »

First I’ll introduce myself, I’m Flavia and I’m an upper year student in York’s Global Political Studies Programme. So pretty much, when I graduate my degree will say the following: Specialized Honours Bachelor of Arts in Global Political Studies. How fancy does that sound? But we’ll discuss that later. All I’ll say for now is that taking the Political Science programme here at York has definitly been an adventure. So for all you future Political Science students, that’s right, I have the inside scoop on what profs are amazing, what classes are the best, and how to write a 10 page paper in 3 hours. Feel free to ask away.
Moving on now, as much as I love spring and all that comes with it, there is one thing I could do without: the March MAD-DASH! What is the March mad-dash you ask? Seeing as it is the last month of school, approximatly 75% of your assignments, presentations and tests (if they’re in class) will be due at throughout the month. However, if there has been anything I’ve learned in the last couple of years accumulating Uni knowledge, it is time management!!! Despite how incredibly swamped I am, I have managed to have a life this March!! Yaaay! My best advice for anyone in university is: manage your time and you will have all the time in the world and your stress level is pretty much non-existent!!
Having said that, I think my birthday month won’t be so rough on me this year. Then again, ask me in a week or so.

As we are coming out of a cold front and temeratures are rising to the 0 degree mark, I’ve had the time to get in touch with my winter wear. I am the type of person that would rather wear many many layers and look like a bundled child than be cold for a moment. So in kind of a response to Ilia’s Ettiquette of Snow, I bring Winter Wear.
