THE YUnit was in Woodbridge and the G.T.A 0

Nov2

I got to begin by giving shout outs to St. Jean de Brebeuf in Woodbridge! You all were my largest group and most energetic! Considering there were 300 of you in the presentation, it was so interactive and funny. It was nice seeing my “Schulich Boys” again after the OUF. Remember, what we promised after you graduate?!

The guidance staff were hilarious.  Rosanna, you are so great with the students, no wonder they are all so focused. I wish I could have stayed longer so we are going to have to raincheck on the Espresso.

I had one of greatest parent nights ever at Mother Theresa in Malvern. The dinner set up was fantaboulous, I felt like I was eating at the Four Seasons. Thanks so much for the hot meal. It gave us all an opportunity to debrief from our day, get to chat with staff and give the students the information they needed with a full belly! The students at Mother Theresa were so helpful and I love the research they all did a head of time, the questions were on point and detailed! I can’t wait to see you all on Nov the 8th!

Then I ended the week on a high note. I did an after school program at Westview. I had a blast. I loved the activity where I divided you up into groups of 5, gave you a list of majors that you can study at York that are not to familiar such as Anthropology, Classics, Human Rights and Equity Studies, Communication Studiesand Kinesiology. You all did such a great job in matching the program definitions in record time. Shout out to Team 1, the leadership crew, who got them all correct!  I am so impressed with your aspirations. After doing the passion test and then matching it with a subject area that you can study at York, I know you will all be successful because you will be doing what you love everyday. Remember our word of the day ” Knowledge Based Economy”.

A couple of things that need to be stressed for this week. The Schulich School of Business is Canada’s Global business winner. Many of our graduates find success before they even graduate. To be admissible there is two parts to the application. I know that we all know the average required in low 90’s, but I need to stress the supplemental application. Many are assuming because you have grades in the 90’s, you will be admitted regardless if the supplementary app is not filled out well, but that is incorrect. Many have not filled out the “supp app” well and have not been considered for admission. So please use your time wisely.

Also know that York has business strengths also found in LA&PS through the BAS program. If you do not have low 90’s that doesn’t mean that your hopes of pursuing business are crushed, consider the BAS and also Buisness and Society. Remember, pursing a graduate degree at Schulich once you have completed your undergradute degree is a great option!

Last but not least the ACE program. For the Westview students, York is committed to your success and we offer the A.C.E program and scholarships to assist you on your journey.  The A.C.E program allows you to take a University course at York in grade 12. This information is in the guidance office or call the admissions off ice at York.  Once you accept your offer at York, you will be given this credit towards your degree. It is a great way to receive insight on how great the next four years will be when you choose to come.

That’s it for now. I am off to Niagara Falls! Can’t wait for this upcoming adventure!
