Making a decision 0
As the January 13 deadline for grade 12 students to apply to University looms closer, I’m sure many of your lives are becoming more stressful as time passes. I also went through this process not to long ago, so I know how you feel. I have some advice here that may ease your selection process and make your life a little bit easier.
The most important thing to do when considering universities is to research them. Majority of grade 12 students have probably already attend the University Fair, and have gone to visit their universities when they had their campus days. It’s a good idea to make a chart and plot out the things you liked about the university. Take into consideration distance, financial costs, and the program you wish to apply for.
One of the most important things I would like to stress is not to pick a university because your friend picked it. What might be right for them, might not be right for you. Some of my friends made this mistake, and it negatively affected them. The best way to get information on the university is to go directly to them, if you rely on second hand information about the university of your choice, it may not always be correct. There are a lot of people at York University who can take your call or email and answer any questions you have about the University.
It is also important to take into consideration the location of the university you want to go to. That was one of the main reason why I went to York University. The University wasn’t far, it’s accessible to everyone in the GTA, York region, and the surrounding areas. Why would I travel away from home when I could get a good education close to home. Different schools have different strengths. The program I chose at York was an exceptional program, which was another reason for picking York. York has a wide range of strengths when it comes to different programs. Read around and see what they can offer, you won’t be disappointed.
