A York University study has recently shown that playing video games can increase an individual’s skilled movement as the brain increases activity and alters the cortical network.  This greatly increases visuomotor tasks enable the individual to improve eye hand coordination.

York researchers studied a group of men who were in their early 20s and younger teens to see how video games affected their eye-hand coordination and how playing the games improved visuomotor skills over a period of time.  This is an another great example of how York researches are leading the way, and finding ways to improve our society.

Future students who are interested in entering the medical profession will be happy to know that video games increase your skills needed to be a laparoscopic surgeon.  Students shouldn’t be dropping their books and picking up video game controllers, remember that a student needs moderation in their life.  Playing video games can be a fun way to relieve stress but don’t forget to study.

Students who are interested in taking science at York should know that the University offers opportunities to get fieldwork and research work while completing your degree.  There are opportunities to continue your research after you undergrad, as students are able to pursue graduate degrees and continue doing research.
