Anxious students waiting for an offer? Here’s what they can do in the meantime. 0
After the lead up to the application process, many students find the final “submit” button on their application freeing. The process is complete. Until about a week later when they think, “now what?”
In an age when students have Twitter and Facebook to alert them of world events instantly, waiting for an offer letter or e-mail can be excruciating. What can they do in the mean time? Here’s what York recommends:
• If they haven’t already, visit the York campus. Stroll down Campus Walk or through The Common gardens. Come for a campus tour and get a first-hand feel for York’s outstanding facilities and beautiful grounds. Tour guides are current York students who will give students an insider’s perspective on life at York.
• Have them make sure all of their documents arrive before the deadline. The documents required could be proof language proficiency, a supplementary application, or for some groups, transcripts. This will vary on the type of applicant they are and the program they are applying to.
• Check their application status. This can be done online through MyFile.
• Chat with York Admission Experts online. From December to May, we have scheduled online chats for students, and even for parents, to answer their questions about the admissions process and the program they applied to.
• Read York’s frequently asked questions about applying. Students will get answers to questions such as: where do I get my reference number?; how do I check my application status?; how do I know for sure you received all my documents?; and when will I find out if I’ve been admitted?
• Keep their grades up. York’s offer of admission may be conditional and based on a student’s final grade point average.
